The goal of this project was to redesign the front facing packaging for this Hot Wheels toy car. This project was broken up into 3 parts: logo design, card design, and creating the mockup.

For the logo design I wanted to compress the brand name into an emblem to emulate car brands like BMW, GMC, VW, etc. The allusion to fire is integral to the brand however and I incorporated a wheel into the logo to center the design. The letters take inspiration from the original with an extra flare to fit the pill shape and fire theme.

The card design divides itself into sections with the layers bringing toy to the focal point. The main challenge was including the necessary information without overcrowding. The card was constructed entirely out of vectors with the exception being the overhead image of the car. ideas for the logo placement and yield sign had to be reworked once progress was made and these elements were being implimented.

The mockup was then created using Blender. I first modeled the box the card and plastic casing. After that was completed, I marked and unwrapped the UV’s then added the design onto it. The car is a low-poly model with images of the toy placed over the UV’s. The final image could now be lit and rendered.
